Ka-lee-stay
καλλíστη means "for the most beautiful" in ancient Greek. My college language was Koiné (Biblical) Greek, and I've always found it a very lyrical language. I love the word Kallisté both for its beautiful sound and because I think the meaning is perfect for how I see my jewelry.
Kallisté comes from the same verbal root as Callista and Calligraphy - kalos, which means beauty. The choice of transliteration spelling was mine, and the accent on the final e was meant to cue the sound of the letter and not to show the accented syllable.
Yes, I've always been a bit different.
The URL http://www.forthemostbeautiful.com or http//www.amyroosjewelry.com works as well. They're both much easier to spell.
I'm working on adding size information for every piece, but in the meantime please know that almost every item can be adjusted or made specifically to fit any wrist, finger, or desired necklace size. If you'd like to know the measurements on the widths/lengths of beads or chain maille weaves, please feel free to contact me and ask.

Every piece comes presented in a leatherette box lined in matching velvet and white satin, or, if you'd prefer, a navy suede drawstring bag you can use to store your piece in. This is then packed in a protective white box.
To make your gift giving easier, I'll be happy to gift wrap your purchase in white striped paper and a navy bow. For more information about gifts, see the Gift Information page.
Both the amount of time it takes to make a piece and the cost of the materials affect the price of a piece. For my bead link bracelets price differences are mostly the cost of the stones. I have bought stones that were $1 for a 16" strand, and I've bought one strand that cost almost $200 for a 16" strand. More unusual stones and cuts tend to be more expensive.
Another recent factor is that the price of silver has actually gone up 5 times over since I started making jewelry. Absorbing a 500% increase in my costs without it affecting the prices of my end product just wasn't possible. I can assure you my jewelry prices haven't quintupled, though! (note - prices just went up in 11/2010 to absorb the cost of silver almost doubling in the last 9 months!) I wish I didn't have to raise prices, but I had started losing money on some pieces to make the prices listed on the website.
Unless requested otherwise, I ship all products by USPS Priority Mail. Other shipping arrangements may be possible - feel free to ask.
With the exception of products that contain shell beads, I do ship to most other countries. Contact me to work out shipping and details.
My customs policy is that I will mark all packages as purchased goods with the full purchase value, as is required by law. This may result in taxes and customs fees above and beyond my shipping fees that are the responsibility of the customer. Thanks for understanding!
